My Mother’s Day bouquet, pictured in a glazed ceramic lotus pod vase.
Yes, I know the bouquet-to-vase ratio is inverted — typically the arrangement should be 1.5 to 2 times the height of the vase, and this one… isn’t. The vase holds its own here. I rather like the soft, round effect of the whole thing. I was very happy with how the bouquet matched my planter boxes on the terrace — you can see them in the background, overflowing with similar pinks and purples.

Identifying everything is always a fun little exercise: light pink roses, purple lisianthus, pink spray chrysanthemums, magenta statice, white gypsophila, aspidistra leaves, and asparagus fern. I’m sad that the roses don’t have much scent, but love the adorable little petals on the mums.

Beautiful bouquet of flowers looking fab in this elegant vase. Happy Monday 🙂
It’s like the one day when I reliably get a bouquet rather than having to do it all myself, so I get pretty excited yes 😂
It’s a very pretty composition, Angela. I’m still waiting for the arrival of the lisianthus flowers here.

I’m pretty obsessed with the double-flowered lisianthus and have been considering whether it’s reasonable to try growing them from seed, since they’re treated as annuals here. I wonder if I could move them indoors like the pelargoniums?
I really like the vase itself, Angela – such a pretty textured shape. Surely all these blooms were not from your garden, though? I was trying to work out which might have been. Statice is such a useful annual and so easy to grow too – I grow it every year in different colourways
Oh gosh no, this just happened to be my Mother’s Day bouquet that I wanted to share! I included the planters in the background to offset the gift bouquet. Starting from next week, I should be able to get my hands on actual garden-grown flowers, though, which I’m pretty excited about! And yes, seeing everybody’s arrangements has given me much more appreciation for “filler” flowers. I need to get out into the field and scatter some packets this week in hopes that there will be some in a couple months…
That is a stunning bunch of flowers and the vase suits it well.
The vase does make me smile because it’s just so plump and cheerful, but it’s also so large that I rarely have occasion to use it! Hopefully everything will have matured enough to provide larger blooms than in years past, fingers crossed!
Oooo, pretty! You have such a lovely, welcoming setting there. Thanks for sharing the side view and the overhead view of your beautiful arrangement.
